HABILIDADX exists because too many people are expected to navigate complex systems—education, disability services, healthcare, and civic spaces—without access to language, information, or meaningful participation. The issue is not lack of ability. It is a lack of access. HABILIDADX was created to address that gap.

OUR POINT OF VIEW:

Lived experience is a form of expertise. Advocacy works best when people understand systems—not just stories. Language access is foundational—not optional. Sustainable change happens when communities lead their own efforts.

LEADERSHIP

Irlanda Ruiz, J.D., M.Ed. — Founder & Executive Director
Irlanda is an attorney, educator, and community advocate with over 20 years of experience supporting families navigating disability, education, and public systems.
She is also the mother of a child with disabilities. This lived experience shapes every aspect of HABILIDADX’s work—grounding it in real family realities while remaining firmly rooted in professional expertise and systems knowledge.
Her role is not to speak for families, but to design ethical, accessible structures where leadership, clarity, and capacity can grow.
